Madrid are reportedly growing increasingly frustrated at the fact that Spurs won’t accept less than £40m for Modric and have threatened to re-sign Wesley Sneijder (Oh no please don’t).

Real president Florentino Perez has warned Spurs that the Spanish giants are running out of patience (Patience with what? patience with the fact we won’t sell our players to big clubs on the cheap and defend the right to ask for a fair price?) and that Madrid could look elsewhere if Daniel Levy doesn’t agree to budge on the price.

The fact that Levy is standing firm is also frustrating Modric who is desperate for a move to Real Madrid but Levy will be more than happy to force Luka into completing another season at Tottenham if the club don’t get the price they want for their star player. A fee of around £35m was reported to have been agreed but nobody from either club has confirmed.

Put some streams in the >>Forum<< for all you fans who are staying up late and want to watch it, enjoy.

Two draws in two matches and now it’s New York Red Bulls, it goes to show the importance of having a striker and with only Harry Kane leading the line the goals have dried up, I hope AVB and Levy are taking note of this before the season starts.

Midnight kick off UK time for this one.

Starting XI

Tottenham

Gomes; Walker, Dawson, Vertonghen, Assou-Ekotto; Huddlestone, Livermore; Bentley, Sigurdsson, Lennon; Bale.

Dinamo Zagreb sporting director, Zoran Mamic: Luka Modric is now a Real Madrid player.

Zagreb stand to pocket £2.5m from the Modric sale as part of a sell on fee which saw Modric arrive at Spurs in 2008 from Zagreb for around £16.5m and it is believed that Mamic has been made aware of the situation and has told the Croatian press that the deal is “done”.

Madrid have been tracking Modric for a while and Spurs have stood firm over the price of their star player but reports yesterday stated that the two clubs had now agreed a fee of £35m for Modric. Reports are saying that the deal will be concluded tomorrow. It is believed Luka has already agreed terms with Madrid and the stumbling block was the fee between Spurs and Madrid but now that seems to have been agreed there is nothing stopping this move going through in the next couple of days.

Spurs themselves will be keen to splash the cash from the Modric deal as AVB sets his sights on Moutinho and linking up with his old boss from Porto is very appealing for the Portuguese star.

Modric is Madrid bound.

What with all the hype of signing yet more midfielders and the hunt for a new keeper plus the Luka Modric situation, it is getting closer to the new season, less than 3 weeks in fact and I am starting to worry massively that we don’t have any strikers!

We will start the new season as things stand with Defoe as our only recognized striker at the club, AVB seems to think Harry Kane can make the step up this season, personally I don’t think so. With the Adebayor deal in jeopardy that leaves just Defoe. If AVB wants to play 1 lone striker then I don’t think Defoe is the man, you need someone big, strong and who can score to be able to play the lone striker role. AVB is a fan of playing 3 attackers, Bale will surely be one, maybe Lennon or VDV on the other side and Defoe down the middle but if someone was to get injured then that system goes out the window.

I don’t care who you are, no Premier League club can have only 1 striker in their squad, which makes me think Levy and AVB must have something up the sleeve or else I am bricking it. Last season we started with Keane, Pav, Crouch and Defoe and of them 4 only Defoe remains and now it’s time to reinvest the money from the players sold which is over £20m just on the strikers we sold.

To be honest I think to myself surely they are aware that we only have JD as a recognized striker at the club and that they will do something about it but for the past 2 or 3 seasons we have been crying out for a quality striker and with each transfer window that came and closed we were left wondering what if we had taken the chance on Suarez.

Last season saw Adebayor join on loan and even if a deal does go through which means he joins Tottenham I still believe we need yet another striker, so for me personally I think we are two strikers down. I rate Defoe on his day but last season he couldn’t get a look in so can you honestly say this season he is going to be our main man?

We didn’t get our business sorted out before the season started last year and it cost us in our opening 2 games when the Manchester sides humiliated us, it’s important to do business early but we never seem to learn, saving a couple of million by waiting for deadline day to come seems to be more important than the good of the team these days. It seems about saving money, even when we sell a player for £20m+ we won’t go and spend the same on a like for like replacement, I heard that Dembele is going to be targeted for Modric’s replacement instead of Moutinho because he is too expensive even though by selling Modric and buying Moutinho we would still make £5-6m profit.

No more midfielders please unless it’s Modric’s replacement, it’s time to address the strikers issue.

Going to try to put some streams in the >>FORUM<< feel free to join and watch

Tottenham continue our tour of America with our second friendly, this time against Premier League rivals Liverpool following our 1-1 draw with LA Galaxy.

Defoe is missing having flown back to England following the death of his cousin in the week which means a start for Harry Kane, you can expect to see AVB make plenty of second half substitutions as he still looks for his best XI.

Tottenham Team

Friedel , Naughton , Gallas , Kaboul , BAE , Jenas , Livermore , Lennon , Sigurdsson , Bale & Kane

A few reports doing the rounds on Twitter that Spurs have accepted Real Madrid’s latest offer of £35m for Luka Modric.

Spurs and Madrid have been locked in battle over the fee for the past few weeks with Madrid offering around £28m but Daniel Levy holding out for £40m. Last week saw Modric and his pathetic attempt at a strike in hope of forcing through a move but that was never going to work, Spurs won’t let players go on the cheap.

Anyway some reports that £35m is agreed, not the £40m we were hoping but maybe that was just hopeful and £35m is more the price I feel is realistic. Watch this space….

If Modric does go then you can expect Spurs to go all out to try to bring in Moutinho, AVB wants the Portugal star at White Hart Lane to fill Modric boots but Spurs being Spurs don’t expect too much before transfer deadline day.

No not the Chelsea midfielder but Gaston Ramirez of Bologna.

The 21 year old Uruguayan is in town for the Olympics and it has been confirmed that his agent is in talks with an unnamed Premier League club over a move. Liverpool have been targeting the player and were believed to be the front-runners but rumors are circulating that he could be on his way to Tottenham after his agent was spotted in London.

Reports earlier this week suggested that AVB was interested in signing Ramirez and it seems certain the winger will leave Italy but will be Liverpool or Spurs? Ramirez plays on the wing and is one of the hottest properties around this summer, his ability to create and chip in with goals has put him on the radar of some of Europe’s top clubs.

It looks like it’s a race between either Liverpool or Tottenham for Ramirez’s signature, the player is in London we know this but now with his agent spotted in London could Tottenham be leading the chase?

Tottenham are reported to be making a loan offer for Roma Striker Marco Borriello.

Marco Borriello (30) famously failed a drugs test in 2007, He tested positive  for prednisolone and prednisone and served a suspension handed down on him.

Roma are reportedly willing to let Borriello leave on a season long loan and will not ask for a fee as long as the other club pays the full wage of £80k p/w. Boriello was once regarded as one of the best strikers in Italy in his AC Milan days but seems to be on the decline in his career.

Doesn’t thrill me with confidence this one, I feel we should be aiming higher, maybe a good player but Heskey was once classed as a good player, it’s a goal machine that is required at the club to please the fans not some guy who can hold the ball up well and chip in with 8 or 9 goals a season that’s what Adebayor is for and he does it well.

Not for me thanks

Obviously a man of many talents is our Sandro just like KPB but by the time we realized that we had already sold him.

Brazil Olympic football team seem to be enjoying themselves ahead of the tournament and it’s Spurs midfielder Sandro putting on the entertainment, I am beat if I know what he’s singing but I take my hat off to the man of many talents, is there anything this man can’t do? We have seen him put in some shifts for Spurs when needed, we have seen him score against team GB last week and now we get to see him sing and play the guitar.
