NEGOTIATIONS between Aston Villa and Spurs are about to start over Gabriel Agbonlahor.
Villa boss Martin O’Neill wants to sign Robbie Keane from Tottenham and Harry Redknapp wants Agbonlahor in exchange.
Agbonlahor’s raw pace is seen as an asset as Spurs prepare for their debut season in the Champions League, while Keane’s White Hart Lane career is over after a loan spell with Celtic and he has always been admired by O’Neill.
Spurs value Keane at £12m and Agbonlahor will command a similar fee when the two clubs begin talks.
Redknapp has other targets in mind, but fears he has lost out on Joe Cole.
His salary demands, in excess of £100,000 a week, are way out of Tottenham’s budget for next season.
This is the report from the News Of The World, which straight away made me think because its NOTW it must be a load of rubbish, howeveSky Sports are reporting on this now so there could be more to it. I would rather Harry set his sights higher than Agbonlahor, I don’t think he is a striker of real quality. I wouldn’t mind him as a squad player but if that’s the case we might as well just keep Robbie Keane. Agbonlahor has blistering pace but his finishing is poor, it will take him 3 or 4 decent chances before he puts one away. But I suppose it could be worse, it could be Emile Heskey used in the swap deal.
