Well the week is coming to an end and like all Tottenham fans, I am loving this summer far more than any other. That’s because nearly every player we are linked with is a realistic target this season and it’s nice to finally see Spurs linked with some of the more decent Premiership players instead of the likes of Emile Heskey all the time.

Todays newspapers are reporting all sorts such as, Scott Parker to Tottenham in a deal involving O’hara going to the Hammers. Also, Gary Cahill may be in a deal where Alan Hutton would be included. These are good potential deals because not only will we be able to reduce the price by including a player swap, but it will help get rid of some of the players surplus to requirements at the lane. Looks like Villa and Stoke want Jenas (the sooner he goes, the better in my view),we also know that Villa are keen on Bentley and Keane so let’s see how that pans out.

Everton’s Steven Pienaar and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to Tottenham reports started surfacing once again on Saturday night and are in the Sunday papers. Now don’t get me wrong; I know it might just be paper speculation but my whole point here is that it’s nice to see us linked with some decent players and not rumours that we might re-sign Pascal Chimbonda again. My point is finishing 4th has already changed our club far more than we could ever have imagined.

Reports are also surfacing that Liverpool want Harry Redknapp as their next manager, well to me it’s laughable, I would put my house on Redknapp turning that offer down. Liverpool are on the way down and not up, so why Harry would even be interested in entertaining that idea is beyond belief. On a brighter note it looks like Ledley King will now be John Terrys partner in the heart of Englands World Cup defence and has even started training with the team. Personally I would drop Terry for Dawson but then again I’m biased.

I don’t think Tottenham can still sign the major big names in football but we are going in the right direction and for once I am more excited than ever to see who joins us this summer. I also have a sneaky feeling and although Harry dismisses it, that Joe Cole will be wearing a Tottenham shirt next season.

Dream Over For Palacios?

Well just as Michael Dawson was handed a World Cup reprieval another Spurs star suffers World Cup heartache. Wilson Palacios was earlier tonight stretchered off in Honduras friendly with Romania. Although nobody has been able to confirm how severe the injury is the early signs didn’t look good for Palacious. If ruled out after the scan to his shin it will be a major blow for Honduras, Palacios does the same job in the heart of the midfield for his country as he does for club and will be sorely missed.

It’s still early days so maybe he can recover in time to play some part, however it hangs in the balance and if he fails to recover it could be his one and only chance of playing in a World Cup. For only the second time in their history have the Hondurans qualified for the finals which shows that chances like this are few and far between. Wilson is a man of steel, he is tough and i’m sure it will take a hell of a lot to stop him playing in the World Cup. We should know more tomorrow

Well I thought Tottenham centre half Michael Dawson was probably the most unluckiest player to miss out on Capello’s final 23 for the World Cup. He had a solid season and lost out on his place for the likes of Upson and Carragher who got in on reputation alone. However today justice has been served but fate played a cruel trick on England captain Rio Ferdinand as he was today ruled out through injury. This is terrible news for England but for me as a Tottenham fan I was delighted to learn that Dawson had now been called back into the England team. Now I personally would hope it was any other defender except Ferdinand but to see Dawson get what he should have righfully had in the first place is great.

Fabio Capello now has a major headache, surely if he has any sense he will put Ledley at the heart of the defense now Rio is out, but I have that sickening feeling he will pick Carragher. If England don’t opt for King and Terry,King and Dawson or at the very least King and Carragher as partnerships, they have no chance. At all costs I would keep Upson out of the team, I think he is a good defender but not better than any of the others and certainly is no world cup winner. Lets hope Capello knows his stuff and earns his Spurs by putting his faith in Dawson if Ledley has to miss one or two of the games through his knee injury. I know that dawson wouldn’t let our nation down because I see him week in week out and know that he is just as good as John Terry based on this season. It’s time for the England team to stop being picked on reputation and to be picked on form alone, players have to stop living off their past reputations and earn all their caps.

Michael Dawson and Ledley King , all us Spurs fans know you can do it, lets just hope for the sake of our nation you are given the chance.

Brazillian first choice goalkeeper Julio Cesar picked up an injury during his side’s warm-up match against Zimbabwe , handing coach Dunga a scare just over a week before the World Cup kicks off.
The Inter Milan star, considered by many to be the best goalkeeper in the world, complained of a back injury and had to be replaced by Spurs star Heurelho Gomes after just 26 minutes in Harare.
He was inspected by team doctor Jose Luis Runco after being floored by an incident in the 19th minute and deciding that he could not continue.

Dunga’s second-choice is generally Roma’s inconsistent and out of favour keeper Doni. However, Tottenham Hotspur keeper Gomes was sent on and impressed with a series of excellent saves against a Zimbabwe side that boasted Manchester City striker Benjani.
Brazil’s first match at the tournament is not until June 15, when they face North Korea in Johannesburg. The five-time champions also face Ivory Coast and Portugal in the tricky Group G and should  Julio Cesar not fully recover the in form Spurs stopper could get his chance between the posts.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp and Fulham boss Roy Hodgson will be part of BBC Sport’s studio line-up during the 2010 World Cup with summer.

Redknapp was named Barclays Premier League Manager of the Season this year, with Hodgson taking the League Managers Association award.

They join previously announced pundits Clarence Seedorf, Jurgen Klinsmann and Emmanuel Adebayor on the BBC sofas.

“We are delighted,” said Philip Bernie, BBC Head of TV Sport.

“(We will) have on board two of the most respected English managers to add to an already great line-up.”

I am looking forward to watching the World Cup even more now, Harry and Roy both 2 top managers and will always tell it how it is. It’s good to see they both had a great season and are now getting offers to be pundits.

Tottenham Duo Miss Out On World Cup 23

Well as I predicted in a recent post here it looks like the 2 unlucky Spurs players to miss out were in fact Dawson and Huddlestone. It looks as though Capello has opted for experience over form,as Upson and Carragher made it into the squad over Dawson despite Dawson having a better season. Carrick made it in over Huddlestone, despite Huddlestone having a better season.

Other players to miss out were Theo Walcott, Darren Bent, Scott Parker, Adam Johnson and suprisingly Leighton Baines.

Tottenham will still have 4 players representing them in the England team in Defoe,King,Lennon and Crouch. There were doubts over King would make the cut due to his fitness but personally I dont think his place was ever in question, every England manager has noticed the talents of Ledley and worked hard to get him into the England set up and when he has played he never let them down. For the likes of Huddlestone and Dawson, maybe not this time but i’m sure they have plenty of caps to come in the future.

Harry Redknapp has revealed his delight after Luka Modric pledged his future to Tottenham by penning a new deal. The Croatian midfielder has been strongly linked with a move away from the club with Manchester United known to be keen but he has now ended all the speculation by penning a contract. Redknapp never had any doubt about the 24-year-old’s future and has also paid tribute to chairman Daniel Levy for securing the deal. “He has always been happy at the club. He is a fantastic player, he is a great lad,” he told Sky Sports News. “He comes in every day and trains hard, works hard. He is low maintenance. “To have him tied up for six years, the chairman has done a marvellous job in doing that deal with him. He [Modric] could play in any team in the world in my opinion and you have got to keep your best players.

Well it seems that Luka Modric will not be leaving, we know the big clubs want him but they can only offer him the same as us now which is champions league football.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has quashed talk that he will sell playmaker Luka Modric, stressing that the Croatian is not for sale.

Modric has been linked with a £25 million move to Manchester United following a successful campaign with Spurs, helping them qualify for the Champions League.

Redknapp is looking to challenge at the top of the Premier league and in Europe next term, and is therefore not interested in allowing one of his most influential players to depart White Hart Lane this summer.

He said in The Sun: “There’s no chance of it happening at all. Luka’s key to everything that’s happening at this place.

“Everybody knows what I think of him. And if you want to move on to higher levels you don’t start flogging off your best players – to anyone.

“I have an excellent squad and – I stress – Luka Modric is going to remain a part of it.”

Redknapp is determined not to lose another of his stars to United following the departures of Michael Carrick and Dimitar Berbatov to the Red Devils in recent seasons.

It has been suggested that Spurs are also interested in Manchester City’s Stephen Ireland and Bolton defender Gary Cahill, but Redknapp denied the reports.

The club has also been linked with a move for Aston Villa defender Curtis Davies after Martin O’Neill claimed he is open to talks over the 25-year-olds future.

Possible Summer Targets

With the summer here and the champions league looming Tottenham have been linked with a host of players, the difference this summer is that they are actually big name players due to the 4th placed finish.

Now me personally I would love to get in Joe Cole on a free as it would be a great deal for us, with the likes of Jenas, dos santos, O’hara and Bentley likely to leave from our midfield we need to replace it with quality and Cole fits the bill. We also keep getting linked with Micah Richards who I also believe would be a great signing due to his young age and ability to play centre back or right back. Up front the best striker that has been linked with a move to the lane is probably dzeko, could he handle the premiership if he were to come? although something tells me harry still has his sneaky eye on bringing back Berbatov.

There are more names to reel off but with 4th place and champions league football to offer next season it will surely be our most exciting summer to date.
