Brazilian goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes has expressed his desire to leave the club on multiple occasions and now it finally seems like he is getting his wish. He was brought over to the club for 8 million pounds in 2008 from PSV Eindhoven but he never quite fit the club ethos.
Harry found him to be too erratic and prone to blunders. With the arrival of Brad Friedel and Hugo Lloris, Gomes has found himself forgotten at Tottenham.
Gomes expressed his anger while speaking to Sambafoot. He said that the club had not helped him out and were rather more keen on recovering the money spent on him.
Gomes said, “I often tried to leave Tottenham, but they have always kept from me going.
“I had several proposals but they were insufficient for the club. It’s very complicated. They want to recover the €10million (£8.2m) they invested in me five years ago. It is not possible.
“I was ready to go to Germany (Hoffenheim). Hoffenheim wanted to buy me permanently but Tottenham blocked the move for financial questions. I always tried to leave, but Tottenham has never helped me.”
Gomes has now revealed that he has managed to negotiate an understanding with Tottenham and is looking to move to Brazil this January. He also claimed that at 32 he still had a number of good years of Goalkeeping ahead of him and still harbored hopes of making the national team for the World Cup.
