Royston Drenthe could be on the verge of his dream move to the Premier League by following international temamate Rafael Van Der Vaart into White Hart Lane.

Has Harry Stolen A March On Wenger?

If the whispers are to be believed, Drenthe could be set to reject the advances of Gunners boss Arsene Wenger in order to secure a move to Harry Redknapp’s title hopefulls.

Currently on loan to Hercules CF from Spanish giants Real Madrid, Drenthe would welcome the chance of a permanent move away from the Bernabeau after failing to cement a regular place in Jose Mourinho’s championship chasing side.

The young Dutchman, who already has more than 20 international appearances ranging from U21 level up to his first full cap in the senior side , is said to be keen on linking up with international teammate Rafael Van Der Vaart at the Lane despite many believing that the Emirates would be his eventual destination.

Drenthe 23, who has also attracted the attention of both Liverpool and numerous Spanish clubs in recent months, would appear to have all the attributes required to succeed in the Premier League. Whilst being one of the quickest players in any of the major european leagues, he shows good strength on the ball and an eye for an early pass ….. a good skill to possess given the pace of the game in the English top flight.

Whether the pacey wideman is in fact on Harry Redknapp’s radar ….. only time will tell, but with Aaron Lennon’s hit and miss form of recent months and David Bentley’s imminent exit from the Lane, Drenthe would appear (on paper at least) to fit the bill for Harry’s side.

  1. he would be a great signing if this is true

  2. Considering that Drenthe is a LEFT sided player I can’t see this happening.
Although he has played at Left Back he is considered to be a better player
going forward than he is defending. While we could use some competition for
BAE, and cover for GB I’d be surprised if Drenthe was willing to go from the
bench at Real Madrid to the bench at WHL.

  3. he plays on the left you twat!

  4. You’re right Gilzeans Bald Spot, he is predominantly a left sided player …… but he’s played on both flanks and even been used a couple of times in a more central role at Hercules since he’s been there.

  5. really not been very good at Real, managed a couple of goals on loan at Hercules but hardly a player who would improve Tottenham

  6. So basically he’s a left or right sided player, that’ll slot into whatever and wherever Harry deploys him? Thought Nico did that!

  7. if we could get a couple of top 4 fullbacks and a striker then we would be contenders.

  8. Slow news day?

  9. hope its not bale passing him on the way.very good player rd but not for that to happen.

  10. WE need Diarra not Drenthe and if either are part Bale deals then tough luck
as for Benzema IMHO Carroll would micturate on him in the EPL

  11. i wish there was only one transfer window per season. save watching spurs fans go nuts over media and ‘ITK’ BS. gareth Bale is a young bloke who still loves to go home to see his mum (respect for that). there’s no way in a million years he’d leave the UK to go abroad. No one worth a quid ever leaves england for overseas..well not til they’re way best their sell by date.
What is interesting is what are these ‘rich’ clubs going to do when platini and blatter bring in their new rules about clubs dishing out the cash?
drenthe to spurs..sure..any one who will bring competition to the side..but Bale going the other way..pull the other leg!

  12. Mr Levey has tried to tell you Spurs door will be closed and if there is movement it will be out on loan look at this from a players point a view and Mr Levey. Lets say we buy a player who would you drop if we play Van Der Vaart these are benched Crouch Pav Keane if we play Gallas Dawson these are benched Kaboul King Woodgate Bassong . Its same if we play Lennon and Bale Huddlestone Modric then on the Bench are Kranjcar Bentley Dosantos Ohara Palacios Sandro Kids in Waiting Bostock Townsend Caulker Parrett Mason Obika Rose Mpoku Kane Harry needs to introduce the reserves so they can learn to play the Spurs way not to sit on struggling Teams benches. Harry has proved he cant handle a big squad. Wake up fans and think about this Luke Varney is on loan from Derby he is threatening to show us how to play because they play like inter 433 this should tell you Crouch Defoe and others are struggling from over confidant averaged players full of Paddy Kennys cough Mixture or to put it in its proper context topped up energy and this is why Varney is so bullish and why we should keep our money for the new stadium. If you took a drug sniffer dog in some changing rooms the dogs arse would be sore from sitting down 17 times HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAASHIT

  13. WE MUST MAKE A COLD AND HARD FACT THAT GB IS GOING NO WHERE , A TOP MIDFIELDER REQUIRED FORTHWITH PALACOIS IS A TOTAL BREAKDOWN HURRY UP BIG TOM AND GET BACK , CARROLL IS THE MAN A SELLING ON COMMODITY AND AN ENGLISH SPEAKING CHAPPIE , IF ALL IS TO BE UNDERSTOOD FROM THE LANE GALLAS , KING , KABOUL , & ALAS OUR VERY OWN WOODGATE WILL ALL SOON BE FIT EVEN THOUGH WOODY IS A LONGER HOPEFUL AND YOUNG ANDY DAWSON IS ALLREADY PLAYING A BLINDER EVERY WEEK , THINGS ARE LOOKING UP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. Who gives a shlt if he can play right side, he is predominantly a LEFT sided player. So what if he can play on the right…Ashley Cole could play at right back but he would be average there. Likewise, Drenthe would be half the force he is on the left if he played on the right. You don’t pay 20mil for top class players just to shove them out on their weaker sides do you, tw@t.
