The season starts here !

  1. Surely Spurs fans have to wise up to the fact that the fault rests at Levys door. If you need reminding check out his long list of managerial cock-ups on the net. What makes this occasion worse is that not only did to get rid of Arry but Levy spurned the chance to appoint the likes of Moyes, Martinez, Rodgers and Benitez. All were available. But Levy fancied another punt. And where is the sparkly new stadium we’ve been promised for 15 years????

  2. The new manager will need to:
    1. Ban inverted wingers.
    2. Make Paulinho work for a automatic selection place.
    3. Reduce the defensive high line (and maybe get rid of Dawson).
    4. Feed the strikers
    5. Get Adebayor involved and get Benny back if possible.
    6. Introduce a plan B & C.
    7. Do not attack the fans and media (this adds no value).

If the new manager can get the best out of Salgado, Adebayor, Dembele, Eriksen, Lamela through attacking, winning football, then he could be onto a very promising future.

  3. Jurgen klopp would be an interesting choice.

    • Prefer ‘reliable’ to interesting…but I know what you mean. There’s a certain guy at Swansea who I think would have us playing the style of football we have long been known for and also be able to motivate and encourage the new signings. He would be my choice.

  4. I personally think its a disgraceful kneejerk reaction to a few really bad results. I believed in AVB and thought he was a very good manager with some good ideas.

    Where did it go wrong?

Not getting Moutinho last summer or Willian in the summer and missing out on the likes of Moutinho, Alcantara and Rodriguez this summer. Eriksen is a good player but inexperienced and gets marked out of games. Fans compared the style of football under AVB to when we had modric under Redknapp. Daniel Levy failed to sign anything like a replacement for modric despite a modric type player being a key part of AVBs system, as highlighted by AVBs pursuit of Modric, Moutinho and Willian. Eriksen and Holtby have the potential to be that good but aren’t at the minute yet everyone forgets this fact.

Letting Dempsey go, much has been made of the loss of Bale but Dempsey was a player who contributed a decent share of last seasons goals and never gave up searching fopr another goal. Not sure if Dempsey wanted an unreasonable guarantee of a first team starting place but he is sorely missed this season.

New signings not hitting the ground running. None of the new signings has really been exceptional this season, there have been the odd promising or encouraging performance but nothing brilliant which highlights that this team needs more time.

Paulinho. Paulinho was the stand out player to blame for me in the West Ham, City and Liverpool games. His positioning and tracking back in the City and WH games was completely unlike Dembeles and he left Sandro and the two CBs completely exposed on too many occasions, I think he played a big part in losing AVB his job because of that.

Overall, I cant believe Levy has sacked AVB only a few months after backing (to some extent) his vision and philosophy. A new manager will likely freeze out and devalue players from this squad, much like Harry done and much like Mourinho is doing at Chelsea, and much like AVB has to an extent done with kaboul, BAE and Adebayor. This could hold us back severely in our long term plans.

A sad day for me as a spurs fan…

Thanks AVB for some great memories, sorry this has happened and all the best…

    • Harry Redknapp …Tuesday Feb 15th 2011 Champions League….AC Milan 0 Spurs 1

That’s a great memory….just remind me what the ‘some great memories’ are with AVB please

  5. Klopp to leave Dortmund for Spurs???
    Jesus wise up

  6. agreed, without a new stadium it will be impossible to get champions league regulary. We have to be a champions league club off the field before we can be one on it and it simply isnt happening.
Should never have got the job in the first place ( and yes i was saying that at the time, unlike so many others who thought it was a master stoke !! )

  7. Well Borodin

Manchester United 2 Tottenham Hotspur 3
Manchester United 1 Tottenham Hotspur 1
    Tottenham Hotspur 2 Arsenal 1
West Ham 2 Tottenham Hotspur 3
Tottenham Hotspur 3 Manchester City 1
Manchester United 2 Tottenham Hotspur 2

Gareth Bale becoming a world class player under AVB.

Signing a load of players in the summer that we never dreamed possible and made us all feel our club was going places.

Those are my memories of AVB, I hope things work out for him wherever he goes.

I was more confident in the future of Spurs when AVB was manager than anytime before…I don’t know who will replace him but I hope its someone decent…

    • Be interesting to see just who did want all those players pal…..Franco Baldini comes to mind…just remind me what season those results all happened…wasn’t that the team Harry left behind ??

  8. Borodin, You must have become a Spurs fan about 4 years ago just before Redknapp got the job. Losing 4-1 to Birmingham and that embarrassing loss in 2009 to Fulham in the FA Cup. Never being able to come back from 1-0 down because we had no heart and a bunch of useless crap players like Bentley and Palacios. Lets not forget the Louis Saha signing and buying back Robbie Keane, are those great memories for you also? Do you remember those? Now for anyone with a brain and who has been through some of the REALLY bad times as a Spurs supporter this is what we got out of the last couple of seasons. Apart from the last 6 weeks 1. When we went 1-0 down there was actually a belief that the match was not over unlike the previous oooh 15-20 years. 2. Our defense finally started to show up 3. We finally started to get the best out of Bale. 4. AVB will leave with the best win record in this century so far and all of the last. etc etc. I am not saying it wasn’t time for a change but we need to be sensible and not quote one result 3 years ago to prove a point. Also if you think HR would have got us to the promised land by now you are way off the mark. Point proven by rangers sitting 3rd in the championship right now after sepnding millions and millions recently. Not sure how many gullible chairmen are left that will accept the Harry, Kevin and Joe show package but they seem to keep appearing. The main problem this season, as it has been every season for at least 5 years is our rubbish goal difference. If you really think about it, Our striker coach has been on holiday for at least the past few years hence why we can’t score enough goals. If it was right to sack AVB, Les needs to go also as he can take much of the blame for us not scoring as many as we should from the front. That problem was here before AVB got here and will continue as long as the job is left in his hands. Fulham away a few weeks ago was probably the worst win I have ever seen. The finishing was so poor it was the first time in two years I have watched Spurs through the gaps in my fingers. Awful. And just as we get our defense almost sorted out we stop scoring and get hit with defensive injuries again. Just saying, lets get some perspective people instead of posting like children. If we are going to start naming one gamers let me come back with “first win at old trafford in freaking ages!” How about that one? I also agree with the Dempsey comment. Way too early to let him leave and BAE had done nothing wrong in my opinion to be loaned out. He was and is way better than Kyle Naughton is right now.

    • The whole nucleus of my comment was about what constituted a great memory…and I still stand by what I said….Milan 0 Spurs 1 was an unforgettable experience.

What amazes me is that Chelsea obviously saw something they didn’t like and sacked the guy…it was the naievity Daniel Levy showed by offering the guy the manager’s job. I am betting now that AVB will go back to Porto… in pocket and another new contract.

Whatever our views on AVB… he is history and I for one will not miss him. Let’s hope the players feel the same and are looking forward to a new boss who will have a plan A/B and C and a style of play that suits the current squad.
Started watching Spurs in 1963…..(I have some fantastic memories !!!)

  9. Well said mate, Some people are just Johnny come lately’s that can’t think logically at all.

Battered 6-0 by Man City – Priceless

  46. Why did the chicken cross the road?
Because it was embarrassed to be seen on a Spurs shirt.

  47. slan leat, its irish work it out!!!!

  48. What time do #Spurs kick off? Every 15 minutes

  49. I’ve seen better soccer clubs in the Rio ghettos then I see at White Hart Lane

  50. A young boy goes to social services and tells them he has nowhere to live. “What about your parents?” asks the social worker. “No, they beat me,” says the boy. “What about your grandparents?” says the social worker. “No, they beat me even harder!” says the boy. “Well … where do you want to stay then?” replies the social worker. “Tottenham,” says the boy. “They don’t beat anyone.

  51. OK ..moving on!
Offer Hoddle a 6 month contract and, if he does well for this club and its fans, then give him a proper contract in June. He’d kill to come back and manage us, and I think he’d do a heck of a lot better than last time. But if he wants to keep ‘them’ players in check, and for them to fully understand what he’s talking about, he’ll need some of AVB’s coaching staff/.interpreters to stay. If he just keeps things balanced over the next few months and we don’t make top four, then Laudrup would be my first choice to come in next summer (so Levy can say ‘thanks Glenn, but your ball tricks are pissing off them players and making them feel inferior’). If Laudrup can make Swansea both attractive and a regular PL team, then he would do great with this Spurs’ squad ..and a couple of necessary additions/removals.
AVB lost his job because he never learned from his mistakes. When he joined Spurs, I believed he would learn from his Chelsea period and become a good manager. He showed glimpses of it, but Bale masked the problems of imbalance last year (although this was hardly AVB’s fault). This season, however, AVB learned nothing from the way he set Spurs up at home, and when he did change things it was too late to make up for the initial mistakes.
Too often he was out-thought and outsmarted by other managers (even of lesser teams) at the Lane and I can only recall a decent display against Norwich, a good first half against Chelsea, a decent short period against MU, and an unlucky 2nd half against Newcastle. He picked wrong players at the wrong time and made no astute substitutions or changes that turned games around.
Away we’ve played pretty well and have been strong (the Man City result apart) but at home we’ve been completely sussed ..and yet he still refused to adapt. I groaned when the team was announced for Sunday, but maybe the unexpected slaughter was a blessing in disguise ..because if we’d have lost 2-1 or something, or even drawn, then the moans would have continued but he would have stayed and maintained that set up again at the next home game. You can’t get a CL place by relying solely on your away form!
But let’s also blame Levy and his new sidekick Baldini. We never ever got our Modric replacement, we’re top heavy in DMs, we ship out our left back while the other is out injured all season, we sell a young promising England centre half too quickly and cheaply, we buy a kid as our most expensive signing who looks like he’s been hauled out of our youth team to gain 1st team experience, we buy an expensive 28 year old ‘set in his ways’ box striker (2 seasons too late) while we’ve never addressed the problem after buying him of actually creating for him and playing to his strengths, and so on.
But what sealed it yesterday for AVB was that he should have played Townsend on the left and gone with a half fit Rose. That would have given us pace and balance on both flanks. He should have gone with a half fit Eriksen in the hole (or even Sig, Lamela or Holtby) and played Dembele right up there alongside him. Sandro and the ever-bloody-present Paulinho could have then fought it out for the ONE DM place (not two or three as often used by AVB at home) ..and on the balance of the season I would have picked Sandro. And that stupid high line leaving a slow but fine central defender like Daws exposed, as well as a DM playing out of position (Capoue) struggling.

  52. OMG another sacked manager??…. Oh well that’s normal @ spurs lol!

Remember the early days in season all you over confident fans was shouting your lungs out that your team is the best in london..bla bla bla..and we reminded you guys to look at past? Now getting this on your face makes you feel confident anymore?

Next time walk the talk first…ah well you guys won’t learn..cheers!!

  53. What…

  54. Tottenham loses and the world gets a little better.

  55. Crystal Palace could beat Tottenham..

  56. Soldado, Defoe, Lamela, Townsend, Lennon, Chadli, Sigurdsson, Holtby & Eriksen have 6 goals between them from open play in the league ALL SEASON!!!!

    Awesome 🙂

  57. A man is sitting in a pub with his jack russell dog one Sunday afternoon. The football results are coming up on the television in the corner: “Stoke City 2, Tottenham Hotspur 1,” reads the announcer. Suddenly the jack russell jumps up and shouts out, “Oh, no, not again.” The shocked landlord says, “That’s amazing. Why did he say that when it was announced that Tottenham lost?” “Because he’s a Spurs supporter,” the dog’s owner replies. The landlord then asks what the dog says when Tottenham win a match, to which the man replies, “I don’t know. I’ve only had him six months.”

  58. Opp…opp..opp opp opp opp sack the manager…oppa spuds style!

    – clearly copied from Psy’s Gangnam Style (for stupid totts info only)

  59. Breaking news: Tottenham Hotspur have finally won a game. It was a friendly behind closed doors at non-league Walthamstow the other day. And if you don’t believe us here is the proof.

  60. 15 managers to 1 AWenger…. ARSENAL ROCKS!

  61. totmad…. You Mad?

  62. We suck so much.

  63. I wish we had Fulham’s history.

  64. “Our new players will gel and then we’ll be a top team to win title” – said to many of us by many Totts fans at the start of this season.

Well.. Next time keep it low and only show off when you are REALLY GOOD…not when you get your ass whipped 5-nil at home without a single shot on target.

    All the best next time..cheers!

  65. “Looks like another lonely night with my right hand.” – Tottenham fans after Bale left.

  66. If Johnny Haynes had joined us in 1965, like he wanted to, you wouldn’t be talking all this crap. Alan Mullery at least saw the light ..and followed it north! And just remember that Fulham is only one Thames tidal wave away from total destruction (if it’s on a match day it might be a question of who dies first or Fulham). Better put sandbags around The Cottage.

  67. Someone essentially help to make critically articles I’d state.
This is the first time I frequented your website page and to this point?
I surprised with the research you made to make this actual put up extraordinary.
    Fantastic activity!
