Just clocked this, classic response from Spurs legend Gary Linker to former Spurs chairman Lord Alan Sugar.

Lord Sugar was curious as to what AVB meant when he blasted the former Spurs chairman, clamining he was not a real Spurs fan and was more interested in the money. Sugar wanted and answer on Twitter and Linker gave him that answer and he didn’t hold back.

  2. Good ole Gary – still scoring for the Spurs !!! Well done!

  3. anyone who sells Sheringham for 3million and replaces him with Ferdinand for 6million knows sod all about football

  4. good on avb and lineker !The 2 so called journalist from the mail are not even top of their profession let alone football management .I have disagreed with avb on tatics and player selection ,but i still have respect for him . It was a personal attack on him which is wrong and gutter press at work.As for sugar two examples (1) sighed chris Armstrong and pulled out of berkamp deal which was agreed months before gooners came in for him , for the sake of £2 million .(2)christian (tube ticket)gross .because of his football knowledge its taken the best part 20 years to catch coys up !

  5. Sugar just loves the sight and sound of himself. He has the front to criticize the Levy Lewis reign. We were trully the Amstrad of footy under him. ‘Carlos kick a ball’ classic. Sugar=dross

  6. I think that there is text book ownage. 🙂

  7. Is that caramel I smell? Because sugar just got BURNED

  8. Ah Gary… – right to the point, what a wonderful man.
Tottenham Hotspur isn’t just any club. Spurs is in our blood.

  9. Sugar did not have the generosity of spirit to make a go of being chairman.

At least he should have the grace to take the money and shut up. We have only just recovered from the mediocrity and relegation scraps from his era .

At least Levy has the best interest of the club at heart. Sugar admitted he bought the club to sell Satellite dishes and then cashed out.

    Nice guy?

  10. What’s worse with the Berkamp deal, he was a fan of Hoddle, a Spurs fan!!!doh

  11. Sugar should back off and let the ma manger manage, he certainly not going now that’s for sure.
He pulled Lennon off because of the Fulham game. We now have a decent replacement for the right side so why not use him?
Although I’d love to see Andros on the left and Lennon on the right.

To be fair to Sugar, yes he did sell for a profit but donated the lot to charity’s especially ones in Hackney where he grew up! Think he gave mental health charity’s a lot of money so whatever you say about him, he saved us from that Hummel nightmare and HSBC bank who only didn’t foreclose on us due to the fact that they were scared no other football fans would do business with them again.

  12. Lineker is a legend.

As for Bergkamp, he’s just one example of our failure to complete deals that go down in history – what about Gerry Francis deciding a youmg Zidane was too wooden?!

  13. Ok. setting my scene and feelings for the accused….I do like Sugar a bit….like his programme but obviously see his harsh side and think he is unfair somewhat although he has mellowed in his senior years, I totally get those that don’t like him. now onto business.. i read his books and from his point of view (who knows if it is true or not) he never had heard of bergkamp and asked francis if he wants this bergkamp bloke. francis went mad and shouted at sugar to not interfere with players as thats his business not sugars. Sugar told him to calm down…he was just offered him and was passing the info onto francis. As I said thats sugars view so who knows… but based on 1 comment in this chain about zidane, it may be true. I always felt francis was great with no money but didn’t know what to do with it once he had it.

  14. Agree with most comments here, however lets not forget there were also some great signings too! Ginola, Klinsman etc

  15. sugar is a pleb. gary l told him about his bloodclart. him did a tink dis football ting was easy. how wrong he was!!! bloody clueless

  16. Money,Money Money that’s all Sugar thinks about.Remember he took the game away from the working man with those executive boxes ect……………..
He himself admitted that he knew fuck all about the game ,referring to foreign players as Carlos Kickaball who would of graced the white shirt, eg Bergkamp (a self confessed spurs fan). Who in their right mind would bring in “the plumstead pikey” as manager? (cant even say his name) .
    Good on you Gary,excellent comments.

  17. Sugar claimed Spurs signing Chris Armstrong was a better deal than the Arse signing Bergkamp. He said about Bergkamp, ‘if he thinks he’s gonna come here and be a star he’s very much mistaken’ (or words to that effect. What a knob!
