Andre Villas-Boas has sensationally declared Tottenham out of this season’s Premier League title race after just three months of the campaign.

Spurs currently sit seventh in the table, but remain just five points adrift of pacesetters Arsenal.

But in a bold move which will either take the pressure off his players or anger the White Hart Lane faithful, Villas-Boas insists Spurs are not in the running for top spot.

‘The title is not for Tottenham, so we’re pretty comfortable,’ said the Portuguese.

‘We’ve have a minimum objective of Champions League qualification and we are one point from fourth place.

‘There are teams that are more experienced than us coming back strongly; Manchester City and Manchester United.

“Pretty Comfortable” ????????????????

Absolutely incensed at this guy’s attitude and man management abilities….God knows what Levy will make of this latest outburst. There is a difference between thinking something and saying it out loud….it’s called discretion.

  1. Now that he openly declares in media, AVB and players must fully devote to what it takes to achieve that goal…

  2. Makes me smile as i could have told him this after the 3rd game.

If he thinks that 4th is good enough after spending £100,000,000 on some players who cannot even speak English, then he is much mistaken.

Anyway, I am sure that we will not even get 4th let alone 7th by the end of the year as we have the players to do far better, but his game play seems to be something out of a comic with no game plan.

I hope I am wring in saying that i think we will end up 7th or 8th

  3. He has actually said in press conferences from the beginning of the season that he does not think a title win is feasible and has said on more than one occasion that Tottenham’s only goal this season is a top 4 finish. Also, losing the best player in the EPL is not something that can be made up for immediately, especially not by adding a number of foreign players who have never played in the EPL before. I suspect we will only improve as time goes on. AVB knows what he is doing and is still one of the most sought after managers in the world and the fact that he attracted interest from both Barcelona and PSG in the summer proves this point.

  4. Just shows you what Spurs fans are having to put up with, with this prat in charge . What sort of message does that send out to the players and fans? I doubt very much he will be managing Spurs by the end of the season as i am sure that Levy will loose patience and fire him. With his crazy tactics , bad selections and excuses week by week , who knows what he will come out with next . Anyone who refers to a manual when things are not working out and does not know what else to do is crazy,.I wish i could say a lot more about him but we have lost games this season where his bad management and leaving players on the bench are costing us points .

    • obsoiutely true.spending above 100 million and not having a left back cover is nonsense.kabool cannot play as left centre back.vertonghen should be there.either you play kabool or dawson..30 million on lamella and 26 million on soldado.8 million on chadli is a complete waste.64 million of waste because of avb.he should go now.

  5. Very unfortunate comment to make, maybe in March but not now as players will lower their sights. I wonder what investment it would take for Spurs to finally win the title, 300m, 500m, more ??? Just seem fated to never really challenge.

  6. Mark’s quote:”AVB knows what he is doing”.I almost fell over;the man hasn’t got a clue.

  7. That was in the summer.

Do you really think they would come back for him now??

  8. Most of you twats are a fucking disgrace. Try supporting your team rather than bitching about the slightest little thing.

For some of you he just can’t win. I bet you’d have slagged him off for sounding like an idiot if he’d been raving on about us winning the title.

    • Huge difference between supporting and just blindly following the whims of a manager who lacks imagination, flair, creativity and any type of morale boosting man management skills.
6-0 !! says it all. You miss the point…I will support the team forever…those eleven on the pitch will always have my undying faith in them…..just don’t ask me to feel the same way about the manager.

  9. You like others on this site are not needed around the club. People like you make me sick. Why don’t you go an support the Arse then you can complain about them.

  10. Doug…. You like others on this site with similar comments are not needed around the club. People like you make me sick. Why don’t you go an support the Arse then you can complain about them.

  11. 100% agree with Bale’s comments.
    COYS

  12. I’ve been saying he hasnt got a clue for ages ,all you’ve got to do is watch his face during the match.Looks like his mums taken his sweets away, when his footballing master plan goes awry a few minutes into the game and theres no plan B in his locker .Wake up Mr.Levy he’s a dud.

  13. After the shellacking u lot getting today, you most certainly are. Oh dear a negative spiral could be on the way. AVB out of his depth…

  14. second half of the man city game 10 minutes old and 5 – 0 already, i have said from the start of this season AVB is not the right man for a premiership club, with the players at AVB’s disposal Walker, Vertonghen,Kabuol, Lennon,Townsend,Holtby,Dembele,Defoe,Ady and Sandro add £100m kitty to the squad and look at what we have, players playing out of position because of AVB;s reluctance to buy a good left back, no co-ordination in the middle of the park, the lack of supply to the forwards and a reluctance to play a £30m player who needs to get his teeth cut as to get into form with the premiership, Lucky 1 – 0 results in 3 games against lower ranked teams, dodgy pens awarded we will be lucky to make a top half finish let alone 6th or 7th.
How can one player as in Bale be sold and then the whole team lose their identity of good flair football, to me there is only one answer which has to be AVB is not up to the job, shame PSG never snapped him up, and unlike a lot of fellow spurs fans i think Chelski made the right decision to dump him, and Everton did the thing we should have done and tried Martinez.

RIP good football at the lane

  15. Utterly dreadful. I want my Tottenham back.

  16. Read the comment above, please.

Any club losing a world-class player will suffer. It would be different if they were a title challenger, or a seasoned Champions League side, but they weren’t. They weren’t close to a finished product.

  17. We do not seem to have a system.. The midfield knock the ball around but do not go past anyone. Soldado up front on his own never gets a touch of the ball, defenders have it easy. 2v1 with the full backs pushing our wide players back. Please 2 upfront give their defenders something to do with our wide players going down the outside for a change, and maybe a few midfielders getting in the box. Ps had to go out could take no more. Buzzer.

  18. I lost total faith in AVB when I heard that he let Tom Carroll go and play in the championship.

What makes it worse is that he buys Paulinho who doesn’t have the creative passing or attacking flair that Carroll has.

  19. Why? Doug is right…what do you want him to say… It’s like showing people 2 and 2 is four but you blindly believe it is five. We all support the club. I’m not blaming the players it’s the manager that is the problem and now he is making the fans divisive.
CC, don’t be blind to what’s happening? The only reason he was sacked at Chelsea was because of fan reaction. Now look at Chelsea and Lampard especially – who he wanted to get rid of.
Let people have their say, they are frustrated and rightly so.
