With Gerrard ruled out of tomorrow’s tie with Tottenham, Liverpool will depend highly on Luis Suarez who has been in terrific form this season. In fact, reading the comments that some of the players have been making it is almost as if its Tottenham v Suarz rather than Tottenham v Liverpool.
The striker from Uruguay will look to lead his team out of their away game slump. Liverpool have been strong at home while surprisingly poor away. On the other hand Tottenham will look to continue their recent good form which sees them unbeaten in the least five matches they have played.
Soldado may well return to the starting eleven after making the most of his opportunity against Anzhi by scoring a hat trick. Tottenham team management also said that Danny Rose and Christian Eriksen will undergo a fitness test before the game against Liverpool to make sure they do not suffer a relapse of their injuries.
Tottenham have enjoyed the better of Liverpool the last few occasions these two teams met at White Hart Lane and the Spurs would look to maintain that record. in fact, for a season which just a few matches ago was supposed to be in dire straits the Spurs are only three points away from second placed Liverpool.
A win in this match will mark the Spurs out as serious challengers for the Champions trophy berth. A couple of favorable results could see the Spurs end the day at third in the league table and an extremely unlikely couple of results could see them end the day on second place.
Villas-Boas and his team have shown resilience under pressure and now it remains to be seen whether they can drive forward from this point on to make this a truly memorable season.
