Not sure how much truth there is in this one, but it’s interesting, so I thought I’d bring you it anyway and see what you think …..

According to a few different sources today AC Milan are attempting to broker a deal with Daniel Levy, which would see Giovani Dos Santos move to the San Siro and Klaas Jan Huntelaar make the opposite switch.

Destination Milan ?

Milan have now accepted that the £14m which they paid for the dutch striker is no longer a reflection of his current market value and are prepared to offload the former Ajax and Real Madrid man for a reduced fee.

Huntelaar has struggled for form since leaving Holland, scoring only seven goals in 21 appearances since his most recent switch to Milan and AC chief executive Adriano Galliani himself said that Huntelaar is set to leave, probably for the Premier League.

The Italians are hopeful of signing Dos Santos after the Mexican forward impressed during his country’s World Cup campaign.

Harry Target ? Huntelaar

Despite his exploits during the tournament, the exciting forward is not in Redknapp’s plans at White Hart Lane and he is keen to offload the player who has struggled to make the first team squad on a regular basis since his arrival from Barcelona.

If these reports do turn out to contain any element of truth, I think I’d have mixed feelings on this one. Sure, Huntelaar would be good business at a fee lower than the £14m Milan paid for him and I’m sure he’d be able to do a job for us, especially with his Champions League experience. Dos Santos however, is a player I would love to see given a real crack at the Premier League next season. After a great World Cup for Mexico his confidence must be sky high and his performance against Villareal the other night in our friendly (bags of energy, drive and enthusiasm when he came on!) suggests he’s ready to knuckle down and fight for his place.

Given a choice I’d like both, but if I had to choose between the 2 …….

I’d rather keep Gio !!!

What do you think ???

  1. i’d like to see both,, but if our choice is gio or huntelaar i’d have to say i’d rather keep gio. hes young and has his whole career ahead of him and has great potential. i’d like to see keane out and gio in his place. and if gio cant get into our team, loan him to another premiership side like blackpool or something so he can get some valuable experience. but if we can get huntelaar and not have to loose gio i’d be happy.

  2. Huntelaar’s agent (or someone claiming to be) already said its not happening… shame.

  3. Keep Gio right? Hes said openly that he wants to knuckle down at the lane. He’s probably far more settled in, and is buzzing from playing well at the world cup.
Why get rid of him NOW?
F*ck huntelaar, how long is it going to take him to settle in the prem? is he actually good or did he just play well a few seasons back?
Sounds like a big risk to me.
Lets give gio a run out.

  4. keep gio every time but only if we going to use him otherwise i d like to see huntalaar we need a striker of hiss calibre if he any where near as good as he was at ajax he be a good signing

  5. TTly agree man.. Gio’s a bettr choice.. Loved his play against villareal.. wuld rathr see him develop than take a risk in Huntelaar.. But thn again we need a striker who can play lone up front.. So… up to Harry..

  6. I really don’t see the point in getting rid of Gio. Huntelaar should come through at a reasonable price. Keep Gio and bid for Huntelaar

  7. This is a Sun invented story I’m afraid, nothing in it whatsoever. KJH says he’s staying in Milan, Gio saying he’ll stay and fight it out, so once again fans have fallen foul of the Hans Cristian Andersen of ‘sports reporting’…stop buying the damned things eh?

  8. Can’t help but think that Huntelaars wages would be a stumbling block, also I think he would prove to be too similar to Pav which is why I don’t understand why Keane being sold is linked with Huntelaar being brought in. To me Gio should be kept for his versatility alone, he can play in just about any attacking position. Huntelaar’s scoring record in Spain and Italy isn’t exactly poor until you compare it to his record in the dutch league where big time flops like Kezman, Alfonso Alves and Dirk Kuyt also looked awesome! Bring him in, but only at the right price and not at the expense of Gio.

  9. Keep Gio…deserves a run in the team. And not the one offs and subs. He could be a revelation. If he does not pull it together the coming season, then consider selling him.

  10. Keep Gio and get rid of Keane, Keane doesn’t want to stay by the way he reacted when questioned by a reporter. Gio has enthusiasm and youth, we also have Obika who can score.

  11. Normally I would not hesitate to keep Gio. But, during the winter 10 weeks when the pitches are heavy and sheer bullish strength is an advantage, as well as familiarity with these conditions, a case can be made for Huntelaar. Not, however, if his wage demands fall outside the THFC pattern.

Whats wrong with one of Townshend, Obika, or Rose, as back ups for Pav and Defoe (Crouchie and Keane being on the way elsewhere?)

  12. Gio was awesome at the World Cup and could “explode” in the Premier League at any time.
I love Redknaap but i believe getting rid of Gio would be a huge mistake. He’s grown immensely as player in the past year. Even his fitness and his muscle mass has improved loads. Something Redknaap complained about before.
He was really consistent at Gala and could be a big asset to Spurs.

Spurs needs wingers. Getting rid of one of the most promising young players around is not good move.
He’s far better then Spurs bound Djalol (sorry couldn’t resist hehe).

    Regarding Huntelaar.
Well, he’s an awesome player. Doesn’t need many chances to score goals.
Strong and powerfull player. He’s really good in the air. Shoots really well. And has scored goals wherever he’s been.
He would be a really good acquisition to the team ….. but please don’t get rid of Gio.

  13. i understand where you are all coming from but think that a swap deal would be in the best intrests of the club. gio had a fantastic world cup so his value is way up at the minute. but he has had one good tournament but has struggled to work hard and perform on a regular basis week in week out for 2 years the prem just doesnt suit him if he has the same problem this season he is worth peanuts and we will be stuck with him. where as huntelaars situation is the exact reverse we all know he can score goals and with harrys arm around his shoulders he will thrive but because of the lack of chances he has had in the last 2 clubs he has been at his value is very low we wont get this option again so i think we should take it

  14. I think we should keep Gio, I only hope he has changed his attitude towards training as then he will get a shout and therefore maybe be happy too.

  15. After just seeing the boys’ fantastic win at Benfica, it would be pure madness to get rid of Gio. He finally showed for Spurs like he does for Mexico, witha brilliant assist for Bale’s goal.
It would also be pure madness to keep Jenas. A twat & a liability.

  16. Saw the game, too. I agree Gio had a fine game, may be was man of the match along with Bale, and I want us to keep him. Gio played hard for as long as he was on the pitch. Took excellent positions. Challenged their midfield.

If this is the new, committed Gio, then we have to keep him. He and Huntelaar would be explosive. He and Defoe/Keane/Obika are not too awful either.

  17. Gio has to stop flying to Spain night clubbing and drinking. If not then he is no good to us. Will he?

Huntelaar, be happy to have him as Keane looks as though he’s gone, not to travelled to Portugal because of a “convenient” injury. Sure sign Villa don’t want him injured.
