Tottenham go into Thursdays match v Shamrock Rovers after winning our last three and with an out of form Arsenal coming up on Sunday I wondered what kind of squad should play in this game

Should we try to keep some momentum going and play a strong-ish team or should we go as we have in the last 2 games in the Europa League and play the kids?

Personally I believe we should continue to give the kids a chance as some of them have shown real promise especially Tom Carroll and Andros Townsend. I think we should line up as:

Walker Corluka Bassong Assou-Ekotto
Falque Livermore Parrett Carroll
Kane Giovani

Gomes, Kaboul, Luongo, Nicholson, Lancaster, Pavlyuchenko, Fredericks

Give the kids a chance and if one of them proves to be a decent player it saves the club money and the fans prefer homegrown players too.
What do you think?

  1. after praising townsend, you haven’t put him anywhere in your team. Did you put benny in by mistake? I think after playing 120 mins in carling cup and playing against wigan with a virus, benny should definitely be rested ahead of sunday.

Also think Pav should be left rotting in the reserves, don’t want him anywhere near the teamsheet

apart from that your team looks about right, maybe put a couple of big guns on the bench in case we’re in need of a goal. Would be good to win this one!

    • Agreed about pav. I hope we never have to see him in a spurs shirt again, ffing useless.

      • I was about to say the same thing Pav shouldnt play, he seems to not give a crap

I can see why Redknapp plays him, we may need him if Adebayor gets injured, he may have to be used

  2. would rest walker (corluka instead, with Gallas at centre half) and BAE (townsend) in defence.

  3. Cudicini
    Corluka Gallas Bassong Townsend
    Falque Livermore Dos Santos Carroll
    Kane Pavluchenko

I would like to Pav to earn his money rather than just sit; Gallas first half on;y ready for Sunday…

  4. ——————-Cudicini

  5. Can’t see the potential with Kane. shame as he’s a good lad. no special technical, ability, small, no exceptional pace. cant see hum being a epl striker therefore dont give hime valuable playing time. theres big chat about falque in european press but i didnt think he looked special against POAK. hopefully im wrong. always like seeing giovani play, everytime he touches the ball, you just feel he can change a game. agreed carroll looked class, surprised i had not heard any whispers about this lads potential. great passer of the ball in an old school playmaker style. livermore looks to be the finished article. he must be worth about 7m. strong and loves the ball, so different from a player like jenas who just drifts through games doing as little as possible. id like to see this yound african lad we signed this summer.the “new drogba” apperently although sounds a little ambitious especially as he’s tiny. conclusion is we a bloody great 1st, easily best ever in my lifetime. world class players right through the team, a coach like jose would win the league with this squad. and to top it off we seem to have stumbled upon a great youth/reserve team. which inlcudes lots of players out on loan, notably caulker, classy centre back

    • Too early to conclude about Kane. We are dropping him into the deep end. This is how Andy Carroll became sold for 35m – Newcastle gave him a few apps per season until he became senior. I am sure that Andy Carroll looked nothing special in his first few apps. Kane obviously isn’t ready yet.

  6. In general, the fans are eager in seeing the youth given exposure. Most importantly we cannot afford to fall out of another competition like we did in the Carling Cup. I agree that we need some experienced backup on the bench. If we don’t we may end up with the 2nd leg result we had against Hearts ( a draw).

    • This is the Europe “League”, we have a guaranteed set of games. We won’t be “falling out” for some time. If we go out, then there is less distraction in trying to finish as high as possible – it really isn’t a problem. If we go on to win it, will anyone (apart from us) notice? Until the injury list eases, we have to play the kids. When the injured players are back, we could be playing a “second string” of the likes of Pienaar, Kranjcar, Pav, Gio, Livermore, Bassong, Cudicini/Gomes etc… Then it will be strong. But the best thing about playing mostly kids is that the cream rises to the top – like Fabregas & Cole did at Arsenal.

  7. was a mistake not having townsend in the team, he looks great going forward even at left back. Against shamrock his weaknesses shouldn’t be as exposed defensively.
Agree about pav hes useless. I dont think we should give up in kane yet though. He puts in a good shift and I expect him to score tomorrow. COYS

  8. Latest news on this game suggests the team will be:

    Walker Corluka Bassong Rose
    Lennon Livermore Carroll Pienaar
    Kane Pav

Gomes, Giovani, Falque, Townsend, Defoe, Sandro, Kaboul
