AVB came to our club in the summer and I wasn’t too happy about it, however I have been impressed with some of our performances this season, even in the games that ended in misery. There were just a couple of matches against Norwich, Wigan and WBA in all at home in which we looks awful but I can still somewhere see potential for AVB to grow into his role.
We are there or thereabouts in the challenge for a Champions League place but it won’t be easy. I think AVB has done a decent enough job because I consider our team to be weaker than last season in terms of quality. Modric and VDV were both shipped out and the replacements, although decent do not possess the same technical quality.
For me we had the right balance last season but AVB needs to be allowed to do his thing and I believe if he can capture some quality in midfield to replace Luka in the shape of someone like Moutinho we can push on.
You can tell AVB has planned his tactics for each match in terms of preparation better than Harry used to and sometimes it pays off, he got it spot on against United and switched to 4-4-2 to exploit Arsenal’s weaknesses and looked to have got it spot on there too until Adebayor got sent off.
Anyway I am still 50/50 but I would lean towards this guy being a success at Spurs if Levy gives him the right backing in the transfer market and doesn’t impose anymore players on the guy that he doesn’t want.
AVB? The Jury’s still out…….
