Ask any Spurs fan who their player of the season is for us this season and you will find the answer of Scott Parker is with the majority.
Scott has had a great 12 months where his career has excelled, he won the football writers player of the year with West Ham last season and then joined Spurs in the summer. When Scott signed it’s fair to say that not many of us were overly thrilled but how many of us will hold our hands up now and openly admit we didn’t realise just how good of a player he was? Scott reached the ultimate in any players career when he was named the England captain to face Holland this week.
Last week it’s fair to say we had a bit of a mare against Arsenal but to cap it all off Scott Parker was sent off in the final minutes. The cost of this means that he will now be unavailable for the home game against Manchester United on Sunday. We lost our first 2 games of the season but then Scotty joined and our midfield looked so much stronger which saw us go on a 10 game unbeaten run in the league.
The chances are that Sandro will go into the middle on Sunday, a like for like swap and although Sandro is a decent player it’s fair to say that Scott has the edge in that role. Harry could opt to keep a 4-4-2 and put VDV in midfield with Modric if fit but the obvious solution will be Sandro. Will we be able to beat United without Parker? will the loss of such an influential player filter through the team who may need a lift after last week or are we now good enough to be able to cope with such a loss?
